Short Description
This submission was for a national level design competition by Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Development Authority to design city gates for the 3 highway accesses of Al-Madinah. The idea was inspired by the famous historical event of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) migration from Makkah to Al-Madinah, and how locals at the time received him with the song of (Tala’a Al-Badr Alaina) which means (The moon has arrived).
The gate’s design represents a moon crescent supported by palm leave-like steel structures. The master plan was developed to accommodate pilgrimage and religious tourists.
